Character Education

At PACT Charter School, we believe that academic excellence and strong character are inseparable. Guided by our mission and core values, we challenge students to achieve their highest potential while developing integrity, responsibility, and respect—preparing them to lead with purpose both in school and in life.

Character Education

Character Education at PACT aims to help students develop into responsible, engaged, and resilient individuals. Through Advisory, Leadership, and Panther Plus, students acquire essential life skills that complement their academic work, such as goal setting, time management, teamwork, and ethical decision-making. The program also maintains a consistent link between students and advisors, creating a supportive environment where progress is monitored, accomplishments are celebrated, and challenges are addressed with guidance.

In middle school, Advisory serves as a base for fostering positive character traits, improving study habits, and staying updated on school events. Panther Plus provides flexible learning time for targeted support, enrichment activities, and additional learning opportunities throughout the week.

In high school, the program continues to focus on leadership, accountability, and preparing students for success after graduation, with Panther Plus offering chances for advanced study, skill development, and personalized support.

Course Offerings: Advisory & Leadership 6–8, Panther Plus 6–8, Advisory & Leadership 9–12, Panther Plus 9–12.

Character Education: Powered by CharacterStrong

At PACT, our character education program uses the CharacterStrong curriculum to develop emotionally resilient, socially aware, and ethically grounded students. Delivered through advisory sessions and the Panther Plus enrichment period, this program helps students strengthen their social-emotional skills and character while fostering supportive relationships with educators.

Core Approach and Structure
CharacterStrong offers a multi-tiered life skills curriculum focused on overall success. PACT’s implementation includes grade-level, research-supported content that builds SEL skills such as self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness through engaging, adaptable lessons and professional development support.

  • The curricula are research-supported, vertically aligned, and customized with 35 plug-and-play lessons for each middle school grade and 100 total lessons (25 per grade) in high school.
  • These include engaging entry tasks, relationship-building activities to promote classroom community, and opportunities for student voice, choice, and active participation. Evaluations in secondary settings show improvements in positive behavior, perceived school safety, and decreases in unexcused absences and disciplinary incidents.
