Core Academics That Help Students RISE
At PACT Charter School, our secondary students build a strong academic foundation through rigorous, engaging core classes that prepare them for the future. Guided by our RISE theme—Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Engagement—these courses challenge students to think critically, act responsibly, and grow as lifelong learners. From the first day of grade 6 to high school graduation, our core curriculum blends knowledge, skills, and character development, ensuring every student is ready to thrive in college, career, and life.

Grade 6

Students in grade 6 will experience life as middle schoolers in a special wing of our Secondary Campus. The grouping of four classrooms is taught by four sixth-grade teachers with specialized core areas of expertise. Students eat lunch together in the cafeteria, and each day, they take various elective classes, such as art, PE, computer, study skills, and music.

Our sixth-graders will participate in middle school activities, pep rallies, sports, and other events, along with our students in grades 7 and 8. The students will also have 8th-grade mentors, making it an easy transition into the middle school experience!

Course Work: Advisory & Leadership, Language Arts, Mathematics (Honors optional), Earth Science, Minnesota History, Physical Education, and Cub Band or Cub Choir.

Mathematics

The Mathematics Department is dedicated to helping students develop strong foundational skills while fostering advanced thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Starting in middle school, students are introduced to key concepts that prepare them for the more abstract thinking needed in high school math. A carefully designed course sequence allows students to progress at a pace that suits their readiness, with honors and accelerated options available for advanced learners.

The curriculum focuses on real-world application, various problem-solving methods, and mastery of mathematical language. Students build confidence in expressing mathematical ideas verbally, numerically, algebraically, and graphically. As they progress through Algebra, Geometry, and advanced math courses, students are encouraged to think critically, reason logically, and connect concepts meaningfully. Electives like Personal Finance, Precalculus, and CIS Statistics prepare students for college and career success, equipping them with tools to make informed decisions and analyze complex data. Whether following a standard or accelerated path, all students receive support to become mathematically literate citizens prepared for the challenges of a changing world.

Course Offerings: Math 6, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Personal Finance

High school courses build on this foundation, enhancing historical knowledge and encouraging critical thinking, civic participation, and cultural awareness. Students learn about the forces that have shaped societies, governments, and human behavior throughout history and into the present. A variety of electives allows students to pursue specific interests such as psychology, sociology, criminal justice, and current issues, while college-level CIS options challenge advanced learners and prepare them for college. Through engaging coursework and meaningful discussions, students are equipped to be informed, active participants in a complex and interconnected world.
